HELLO...
My name is Kirsty Sellers, and I am what’s known as an Integrative and Relational therapist. I work with couples, individuals, and families.
I have trained in several different types of therapies. These are often referred to in the counselling world as ‘modalities'. You may have heard of some of the more common types, such as:

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) How our thoughts/feelings/behaviours impact us in the here
and now.
Psychodynamic Therapy How our past history and relationships are influencing what drives us now.
Systemic Therapy Exploring how our wider systems and relationships such as with family, friends, and at work affect, well, pretty much everything! Alongside systemic principles, when working with couples I will often use Gottman Method Therapy as this way of working provides invaluable insights alongside practical tools that help strengthen and sustain romantic relationships. I also adopt a Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT) which allows us to really understand what is occurring in the here and now and discover how secure functioning principles might help you reach your relationship goals..
DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) encourages us to consider how to handle difficult emotions as we explore new and effective skills that might help you to build the life you actually want to live. If you are looking for DBT in particular, please see the page specifically related to DBT for more information on this type of therapy.
Among all that, you’ll often find me wondering about ‘parts’ of you, which comes from IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy). As an IFS informed therapist, this way of working is gentle but incredibly effective - and often results in deep insights as you discover all the parts of you that come together to make you, well, you!
WHAT DOES ALL THAT MEAN FOR ME OR US?
A good question. All of the above is a lot of information, but what is important to know is that if you decide to work with me we will create a way that feels comfortable and go at a pace that suits you. If you’re still unsure, please feel free to get in touch directly. It is often easier to have a conversation so we can discuss the options together.
